Sébastien Migné
Coach · Haiti
Biography
Sébastien Migné is the head coach of Haiti at the 2026 FIFA World Cup — and the man who delivered the Grenadiers' first World Cup appearance in 52 years without ever having set foot in the country he coaches. Born in La Roche-sur-Yon on 30 November 1972, Migné had a modest playing career as a midfielder, including a short spell on the books of Leyton Orient in England, before turning to the touchline at the end of the 2000s.
His career has been almost entirely African. He coached DR Congo's under-20s, took the Congo senior team to a respectable spell from 2017 to 2018, and then guided Kenya to the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations — only the country's sixth appearance ever — earning him a CAF national-team-coach-of-the-year nomination. He went on to manage Equatorial Guinea, South African club Marumo Gallants and worked as Rigobert Song's assistant with Cameroon at AFCON 2023 in Ivory Coast.
He was appointed Haiti head coach in June 2024, taking over a federation in profound difficulty: persistent gang violence at home meant that Haiti could not host qualifiers, and the squad is built almost entirely on diaspora players in Europe and North America. With his "home" games staged in Curaçao, Migné still steered Haiti through a brilliant Concacaf campaign that ended with a 2–0 win over Nicaragua in November 2025 to seal qualification. Haiti are placed in Group K. Around Duckens Nazon, Frantzdy Pierrot and a French-influenced midfield, Migné's role is simple in description: deliver a World Cup his squad — and a fragile, brave country — can be proud of.
